Rolled Up Mat Photos

The interest in the Forrest yoga  rolled up mats continues, which I think is awesome.

Got a request for photos, but I’ve been having issues saving photos into my posts — my very patient webmaster is workin’ on it for me.   Till then, I’ve subverted the system by putting a series of photos on Flickr showing a mat getting rolled up, plus several of a mat side by side to a block so as to give a good idea as to proportions.

And, just because she insisted, one of our cats is making her appearance as well doing Lounging Kitty pose, and showing she knows that the Lulu yoga bag always go with mom… :)

Woke up feeling much better in the back, but also with a strong sense that I wanted to control exactly what my practice is today to continue healing.  So, this little yogi stayed home & did a short am practice focused on abs & back, and will hit the mat again this evening to do some more abs, back releases & a few standing poses.  Things are definitely looking up; hope to go into the new week strong!!

Ahhh, sweet Pyewacket! I remember staying with her and found her camping out in my suitcase just like that. :) Thanks for the pics! They help. Now I need to find some big, sturdy rubber bands to close the deal. Glad you’re back is feeling better and that you’re taking care of it well!

Pye misses you!! If you don’t have sturdy rubber bands, try using similarly sturdy hair elastics. Use a couple, and then, also, if you get stuck in class without a ponytail holder, there’s an extra to spare wrapped around the mat!
Have you tried just following the abs section from a DVD or MP3? It’s much easier on the brain (& just as challenging for the tummy :) as trying to remember it yourself.

I suppose I could do that huh?! Stick in the DVD and just do the abs- they’re at the beginning usually too huh? Maybe that way I can do more of them too because really, how much good is doing one little set of abs each day going to do me?!? :) Great tip about the hair ties! Will come in useful when I get to take the rolled up mat with me to Forrest classes. Question about Ana’s MP3′s- when would you say a person is ready to move onto them? I know they’re a little more advanced than her 2 DVD’s. Ann Hyde told me to move onto them once I get bored with the DVD’s, but I don’t do the DVD’s enough to get bored! I think listening to instructions without worrying about cranking my neck to look at the TV would be a little easier though…..It’s a big investment though so I don’t want to buy them if they’re going to be too hard. Thoughts?

The MP3s aren’t that big an investment ($12 to 20ish?) and most are targeted at all levels. You can get one at a time.
For abs, I’d pick up the Heal Your Back MP3 first — it’s a looooooong set. You know, you can in fact just listen to the DVDs with eyes closed for the abs once you’re used to it. :)
My personal favorite is the Intensive CD set which IS a bit harder than the DVDs or most of the MP3s & also costs more ($150 but it’s 10 CDs and a photo book of all the poses). It’s good because I can just pick the tracks I want to use without any hunting at all.

OH! Almost forgot!! Heidi Sormaz has some great Forrest MP3 classes at http://www.aliveyoga.com starting at $9 for all levels core strength 1 hr sessions. She’s a brilliant teacher & offers more time lengths & levels than some of the Ana MP3s which tend to be longer workshop recordings.

Ah yes, I think I was referring to the $150 intensive set of CD’s with photo book. I suppose I could download individual MP3′s for a lot cheaper! I’m going to a class soon, but will see about sticking a DVD in this evening for some abs and then work on getting some stuff downloaded. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the pics! Now I get it (I am such a visual learner).

I love this MP3 talk. I have one of the Forrest Yoga podcasts from Yoga Download and plan to get their 60 minute one as well. I’m glad there are other options as well. Do you know of any that are in the hour range (I see that Ana’s are long workshops)?

Holy Moly- just browsing the aliveyoga.com Forrest yoga MP3′s- curious if you have ALL of the Ana Forrest ones? They are quite long aren’t they?! Wow. I can’t imagine putting myself through that long of a practice at home- no idea if I could make myself do it. Plus I don’t have the “right” conditions- carpet through out the house so I don’t even use a mat and no real good way to heat up a room. I know you use a little heater and all, but I think that only works for dedicated yoga rooms. You also said something about an hour long core strengthening session- AN HOUR- I was thinking more like 15 minutes tops…. :) I’m such a wuss! :)

Beating the dead horse now- but I feel like a kid in a candy store! Husband thinks they’re a crock though and doesn’t want me to download them- thinks it’s too much money for not having a physical product in hand. Argh!

  10. Zmama Says:

Oooo, just realized that site you linked has others besides Ana’s. Didn’t see that at first!

Terra, tell Logan to get into the 21st century for pete’s sake! :) Hasn’t he ever downloaded a song from iTunes or Rhapsody? These are just that much cooler. :) ZMama, FYI, Ana’s own MP3s are 25% off if you go through http://www.forrestyoga.com to get to aliveyoga.com btw; and Heidi’s are great on the Alive site. SO many goodies out there to play with!!

He actually refuses to download music- he must have the cd copy. We had a good long talk though where I recounted all of the reasons why it’s a good thing for me to download and he’s coming around. He keeps saying “why don’t you just buy a DVD?” and I keep telling him “because there are only 2 and I have ‘em already!” Boys! :P
